Fisk, (Anna) Jane (Anna) Jane Fisk, of Pittsburgh, PA died peacefully at the Hillcrest Care Facility of DeSoto, MO on October 23, 2016, at the age of 91 surrounded with family. “Jane” Fisk was born in Orofino, ID, daughter of the late Clark Fisk, step-mother Hattie White Fisk, both of Plummer, ID, and mother Alta Boyd of Kellogg, ID on February 28, 1925. As an outstanding athlete at Nezperce High School, Nezperce, ID, she later received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Idaho in 1951, followed by a Master of Science Degree in Physical Education from MacMurray College in 1955. She was an Athletic Administrator, Educator, and Coach at Carnegie Melon University for 35 years until her retirement in 1987. As a founding pioneer, trailblazing a path for women in athletics, she received numerous commendations in her lifetime. She taught fencing and diving, as well as being a coach/player on a field hockey team into her sixties. Her retirement was spent enjoying her love of gardening and painting, designing and building unique doll houses which were donated annually for auction at Excel Health Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant, PA, which through her many years of support, raised over $30,000 for equipment and services. She was preceded in death by her sister June C. Mastne, formerly of Spokane, WA, brother Dell Fisk, two great-nieces, Phoebe Wilding and Mary Douthit, and by her best friends and companions of over 55 years, Donna Johnson, and Nancy Barthelemy. She is survived by five nieces and two nephews: Rana’ Miley of Spokane Valley, WA; Pamela Luetkemeyer, of St. Louis, MO; Karen (Charles) Miller, of DeSoto, MO; Geraldine (Rick) Douthit of Bangkok, Thailand; Mary (Michael) Wilding, of Vancouver, WA; James Chappell of DeSoto, MO; and Melvyn Mastne of Burlington, WA. She was also survived by 24 great-nieces and great-nephews, and 19 great grandnieces and grandnephews, and best friend and companion of over 63 years, Lois Snyder. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. Private services are being planned by her extensive family. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be sent to the City of Plummer, PO Box B, Plummer, ID 83851, for maintenance of Clark Fisk, (her father’s memorial) Park.
